What happens in your consultation.

All our consultations are done by doctors with more than 10 years of experience in the field and with post-graduate qualifications from UK and France.

Duration of the consultation

Is typically 1 hour and if you also have an ultra-sound scan, it may add another 10-15 minutes

Attending together and intra-couple confidentiality

We like you to attend your consultation appointment together. Atleast the first one. There is such a lot to know and absorb during the consultation, that two heads will always be better than one. It gives you a chance to clarify your thoughts with each other and us, in “real time”, to use IT language.

We are committed to maintaining confidentiality about your information as a couple as well as keep intra-couple confidentiality. Basically, we owe you confidentiality both as a couple and individually.

Past investigations and reports

Please bring any old reports or details of treatments you may have received in the past. It allows us to judge what may be the best line of investigation and treatment ahead.

During the consultation we give you an overview about what line of investigations we may want to pursue. Hormone reports which are more than a year old may have to be repeated. A semen assessment is helpful even if done only a few months ago as our embryologists like to see the motility and overall appearance for themselves. The assessment is after all a subjective thing.

Chance of success and alternative choices if any

The specialist will try and tell you what is the likelihood of success in various types of treatments which may be available for you.

Working with your GP

The NHS offers free fertility treatment for those couples who fall within their strict criteria ranging from age to BMI to family circumstances. If you don’t qualify whatever the reason, we are happy to see you at our clinic and outline a recommended plan of action, choice of investigations and a complete explanation as to why you need those.

There are some tests which are non-urgent and can be done by your GP as well, which could save you some money. E.g. all infective screen tests and even hormone profiles can happen at your GP’s clinic and it could save you some money. We can always talk to your GP to see if he can help.

We are in the process of discussing with local CCG showing them how time saving and cost efficient our services would be to their patients. Hopefully very soon our centre will be in a position to work with the NHS for free treatment to our clients.
