Shared IVF cycle

Shared IVF cycle is one of the earliest form of ovum donation treatment.

What is “shared IVF cycle”?

Shared IVF cycle is when an altruistic donor agrees to donate some of her eggs to a recipient whilst having her own IVF cycle.

Whilst the donor will get her treatment cycle free of cost, the main driving forcing in this is her decision to be an altruistic donor, to help a recipient who needs eggs for her treatment.

How do you select and prepare a potential donor?

Firstly she has to be young, be healthy have a good fertility reserve and no history of genetic and other diseases in her family.

For a woman to qualify for a shared cycle she and her partner has to undergo counselling to appreciate all details about the treatment including the legal and emotional aspects.

There are several tests that need to be undertaken along with a detailed history before a person is accepted for a shared IVF cycle treatment as a donor. Tests include studies of her chromosomes (karyotype) and other genetic studies as well as detailed infection screen.

Rights of the donor

All treatment costs for the investigations as well as the actual treatment are borne by the clinic. Prior to embarking on this journey the patient is counseled on every aspect of the treatment and every possibility and has a right to back up at any stage of the treatment.
